Pietro Germi, 1967

Il violinista Sergio Masini è sposato e ha due figli. Ma questa non è la sua unica famiglia: ha una seconda relazione con una donna dalla quale ha avuto altri due figli. E ora sta per avere un figlio da una terza, giovane, donna. Non le tratta da amanti, ma da vere e proprie mogli. Ma questa situazione non può durare troppo a lungo….

In questo film Tognazzi passa dal registro comico a quello più drammatico mentre affronta un tema di grande attualità. L’attore si sente un po’ costretto nel ruolo costruito su di lui da Germi, che esige grande fedeltà alla sceneggiatura.

And now, he is going to have a child from a third, young woman. He does not treat the three women as lovers, but as real wives. But this situation cannot last too long….

In this film, Tognazzi moved from the comic register to the more dramatic one, while addressing a very topical theme. The actor felt constrained by Germi’s direction, who demanded great fidelity to the script.
